What are the meaning, purpose, history, and/ or significance of waist beads?

Waist Beads are an excellent tool for women to feel more feminine and beautiful. The tradition of wearing beads is an age-old one. They have been worn for varies of reasons such as body positivity, energy, weight control, sensuality and body awareness.

The wearing of beads on the waist was made popular by West Africans. Over time, the culture of the use of beads has been associated with both spiritual and decorative reasons. In some parts of Africa, the beads are anointed in oils for religious purpose.

 

Are the clasps and ear hooks nickel free?

Yes both the clasps used for the waist beads and the ear hooks are nickel free. The clasps are barrel clasps and the ear hooks are fishhooks both are made by Bead Landing. Moonstars Creations is not responsible for any allergic reactions.  

 

Can I bathe in my waist beads?

Yes. After bathing, make sure to pat your beads dry with a towel and moisturize your skin. Keeping your skin moisturized will prevent skin irritation especially for those with sensitive skin. Just be mindful not to yank on them while pulling your pants down to use the bathroom. 

 

Can I wear waist beads while pregnant?

Yes. If you become pregnant while wearing your waist beads, be sure to pull your waist beads up over your belly as soon your belly starts to grow wider than your waist bead measurements. If you are already pregnant, you want to measure your beads wide enough to allow for weight gain, but not so wide that they fall off your body. 

 

When will my order be ship? 

Readymade items are shipped in 1-3 business days. Custom items are shipped after they are made, which is approximately 1-5 days after the order is place. Once your order is ready to be shipped, you will be emailed a United States Postal Service (USPS) tracking number at which point you will be able to keep track of your order. 

 

How do I know if my order has been placed?

You will receive an order confirmation notice to the email address you provided along with a receipt shortly after placing your order. Be sure to check your spam folder as well for an order confirmation.

Also, please make sure you enter your correct email address. Any misspelling can affect whether you receive an email confirmation.

 

How many strands should I wear?

For beginners, we recommend wearing 1-3 strands. The more you get used to wearing waist beads, the more strands you may add.
